The band Chalice was formed in 1980. The original members included Robi Peart (lead vocals/guitar), Wayne Armond (lead vocals/guitar), Keith Francis (bass), Mikey Wallace (keyboards), Trevor Roper (guitar/vocals), Desi Jones (drums) and Ervin ‘Alla’ Lloyd (keyboards).
Chalice was the first Reggae Band ever to perform in Istanbul, Turkey
The debut album, "Blasted", spawned two hit singles in Jamaica. "I Still Love You" stayed at number one for seven weeks, and "Good To Be There" broke the Top 10 the following year.
"Rivival Time" was another number one hit in Jamaica.
In December 1990 Chalice was invited to headline the first Mexico Sunsplash.
In 1991 a major change took place in the band, when drummer Phanso Wilson and the late lead singer Trevor Roper migrated to the United States. Roper was replaced by Dean Stephens and Wilson by Wayne 'C Sharp' Clarke.
In 1994 Chalice also headlined the first Bob Marley Music Festival in Cancun, Mexico.
Their seventh album, "Tuff Enuff" was released only in Austria.
In 1996 they disbanded.
Keyboard player and original member Mikey Wallace died in 1999.
Chalice regrouped in 2006, ten years after their last performance at Reggae Sumfest.
They returned to the stage in 2007 for the Symphony Under The Stars Concert in Jamaica.
Since the regroup, they have headlined events such as Air Jamaica Jazz & Blues Festival, Rebel Salute, Calabash Festival as well as events in Miami, Fl and The Cayman Islands among many other concerts.
in October 2010, Chalice released "Let It Play" which is the group's first studio album in over 10 years.
In 2011 Chalice was the closing act for one of Jamaica's best known festivals – Reggae Sumfest.
Original Lead singer and guitarist Trevor Roper died after battling cancer in Chicago in 2013.
Robi Peart, an original member of the Chalice band, died on August 4, 2016 at age 61.
Peart was lead singer on several of the band’s popular songs, such as "Praise Him", "I’m Trying" and "Ragga Reggae".
2016 saw the release of the newest and current album "A SONG"
